At present, so many people are getting benefits

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was launched in March 2020. In this, every person is given 5 kg of food grains per month. Since this scheme is brought for the poor, only families having BPL card can get benefits under it. So far 6 phases of this scheme have been completed. The first phase was from April- June 2020. The subsequent phases are as follows - July - November 2020, May - June 2021, July - November 2021, December - March 2022 and March - September 2022.

Last time when this scheme was extended from September to December, a total additional expenditure of Rs 44,762 crore was incurred on the extension of this scheme till December 2022. At the same time, till now Rs 3.46 lakh crore has been spent on this scheme. On the other hand, if this scheme is extended till March 2023, then about 68 lakh tonnes more wheat will be required. Experts say that the government can continue PMGKAY till the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.

वैसे इस स्कीम को सिर्फ दिसंबर तक के लिए बढ़ाया गया है। लेकिन सूत्रों के मुताबिक इस योजना को दिसंबर के बाद भी जारी रखा जा सकता है और मार्च 2023 तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है। सरकार के मुताबिक अगले साल जनवरी तक करीब 159 लाख टन गेहूं का भंडारण किया जाएगा, इससे पीएमजीकेएवाई के विस्तार पर विचार किए जाने की उम्मीद है।

वर्तमान में इतने लोगों को लाभ मिल रहा है

प्रधानमंत्री गरीब कल्याण अन्न योजना मार्च 2020 में शुरू की गई थी। इसमें प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को प्रति माह 5 किलो अनाज दिया जाता है। चूंकि यह योजना गरीबों के लिए लाई गई है, इसलिए केवल बीपीएल कार्ड वाले परिवारों को ही इसका लाभ मिल सकता है। अभी तक इस योजना के 6 चरण पूरे हो चुके हैं। पहला चरण अप्रैल-जून 2020 तक था। इसके बाद के चरण इस प्रकार हैं- जुलाई-नवंबर 2020, मई-जून 2021, जुलाई-नवंबर 2021, दिसंबर-मार्च 2022 और मार्च-सितंबर 2022।

पिछली बार जब इस योजना को सितंबर से दिसंबर तक बढ़ाया गया था, तो इस योजना के दिसंबर 2022 तक विस्तार पर कुल 44,762 करोड़ रुपये का अतिरिक्त व्यय हुआ था। वहीं, इस योजना पर अब तक 3.46 लाख करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए जा चुके हैं। वहीं अगर इस योजना को मार्च 2023 तक बढ़ाया जाता है तो करीब 68 लाख टन गेहूं की जरूरत पड़ेगी। जानकारों का कहना है कि सरकार PMGKAY को आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 तक जारी रख सकती है.
